License Exempt Wireless Internet Service Providers Organization

Grand fathered FSS Stations

FSS Earth Stations (Fixed Satellite Service), MS Stations (Mobile Service) and Certain Government Radio Locations  were given "grandfather" status in the Report and Order releasing 3650-3700 Mhz for WISP use. Also as part of the process, these stations were given a "protection zone" of up to 150km from their dishes.

Usually, these protection zones are located along the borders of the United States, e.g. east coast, west coast, border between Canada and the U.S. and the border between Mexico and the U.S.
